Sinai Free Synagogue is committed to fighting hunger in our local community. During the last two years, we have raised significant funding for the Feeding Mount Vernon’s Summer Feeding program.

Feeding Mount Vernon tells us:

“You are changing the daily lives of our neighbors in need.

Our Summer Feeding program distributes bags of food to children at locations throughout Mount Vernon to ensure that children have enough to eat when they are not getting meals from free or reduced meal programs through their school over the summer. With the help of United Way of Westchester & Putnam as well as Door Dash, Feeding Westchester also distributes bags of fresh, beautiful produce directly to families in need each week. Families are able to call United Way of Westchester and Putnam to request a delivery of food, which Feeding Westchester assembles and distributes directly to the family with the help of Door Dash drivers. Feeding Westchester partners with schools for all ages to set up food pantries in the schools for children who do not have enough to eat. This program is a crucial way to get food to children with dignity across Westchester County. All of these efforts are our way of meeting children where they are and getting food to them in the most efficient and convenient way, knowing that their parents often have such busy work schedules to support their families. Some partners of ours in Mount Vernon include the Mount Vernon Public Library, a home delivery partner site, and Mount Vernon Boys and Girls club, which we anticipate to join us as a camp site.”
