SinaiFree Film Society Discussion, "The Great Dictator"

11 Dec @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The SinaiFree Film Society will discuss “The Great Dictator.”

Before the U.S. officially entered World War II, Charlie Chaplin boldly went after Hitler. In his first pure talkie, Chaplin brings his sublime physicality to two roles: fascist dictator Adenoid Hynkel, and the kindly Jewish barber who is mistaken for him. “The Great Dictator” is an audacious amalgam of politics and slapstick that culminates in Chaplin’s famously impassioned speech.

The film can be streamed for free on Kanopy, and by subscription from Hulu, Max, AppleTV+, The Criterion Channel, YouTube, indieflix and Roku. It can be rented for $3.99 from Apple TV and Amazon. There are 13 DVDs in the Westchester Library System, and three in the New York Public Library.
