SinaiFree Film Society Discussion, "A Face in the Crowd"

30 Oct @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The SinaiFree Film Society will discuss “A Face in the Crowd.”

Just in time for Halloween and the presidential election, this 1957 film is frighteningly prophetic. A folk-singing drifter rides the waves of radio and television to nationwide fame, but darkness looms as he becomes consumed by his power.

This film is brought to you by director Elia Kazan and screenwriter Budd Schulberg, who had previously collaborated on “On the Waterfront”. It features the film debuts of Andy Griffith, Lee Remick and Tony Franciosa.

The film can be streamed for free on Hoopla, and on Tubitv.com (with ads). It can be rented for $3.99 from Amazon Prime, AppleTV, YouTube, Fandango at Home and Google Play; and by subscription from Hulu, TCM, Spectrum and YouTube TV Premium. There are nine DVDs in the Westchester Library System, and two DVDs in the New York Public Library.
