“Above and Beyond”
A group of World War II pilots from America and other countries – most of them Jewish, but not all — create the Israeli Air Force in 1948. They smuggle planes out of the U.S., defying the government embargo and risking their U.S. citizenship, and fly for Israel in its War of Independence. These machalniks (overseas volunteers who fought alongside Israeli forces) changed the course of the war.
