7:00 – “All About Barbie and Being Jewish in the 21st Century” – Zoom and In-Person Special Screening: “The Tribe” by Tiffany Shlain
We will feature a special screening of “The Tribe” by acclaimed filmmaker Tiffany Shlain.

What can the most successful doll on the planet show us about being Jewish today? Given the summer success of the current Blockbuster, this short award-winning documentary from 2006 is a perfect starter for an engaging discussion on the intersection of Jewish identity and contemporary culture in the 21st century. The Tribe weaves together archival footage, animation, Barbie dioramas, and slam poetry, and takes the audience on an electric ride through the complex history of the Jewish people- from Biblical times to present day through the story of Barbie. The film sheds light on the questions: What does it mean to be an American Jew today in such challenging times? What does it mean to be a member of any tribe in the 21st Century? This conversation promises to be both enlightening and thought-provoking.

8:15  – Havdalah & Service – Sanctuary & Zoom, we will come together for a beautiful Havdalah service. Whether you choose to participate in person or via Zoom, this service marks the end of Shabbat and the beginning of a new week, uniting us in reflection and renewal.
