The Education Council serves in an advisory capacity to the Director of our Religious School, supports innovative programming, and raises funds for enrichment programs and activities. Some of the events sponsored by the Council include bake sales, Hanukkah Book Fair, and a Mother’s Day plant sale.

The Fundraising Committee plans and coordinates activities to raise funds to support our budget beyond our member’s financial commitments. Our Hanukkah celebration, New Year’s honey, Mishloach Manot, Progressive dinner, and Spring Gala and silent auction are some of the events sponsored by the committee.

The Library Committee maintains and builds the collections in our substantial libraries for children and adults and runs our annual book fair.

The Programming Committee creates innovative and educational programming for continuous adult learning through Sunday brunches, movies, museum trips and a variety of invited lecturers.

Caring for one another is a big part of what we do. Our group of caring congregants is pro-active and responds to the needs of our members. Visiting the sick, helping the bereaved, checking in, providing rides, delivering meals – we are always looking for new ways to strengthen and bond with the members of SFS.

Sometimes we need one person to help, sometimes two, sometimes more. There are always things happening and we welcome the extra help. Tasks can range from shopping for goodies for the various holiday boxes, putting them together, coordinating dinners, lending a hand in the kitchen, setting up the Sukkah or helping out in the office, to something as simple as putting letters in envelopes. Our choir is composed exclusively of SFS members and led by Cantor Amy. They inspire and soothe us with traditional melodies and prayers, especially during the High Holy Days and other holidays. All ages are welcome.
