SinaiFree Film Society Discussion of "Keeper of the Flame"
29 Oct @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
The SinaiFree Film Society will discuss “Keeper of the Flame.”
Released during World War II, this drama/mystery holds a prescient mirror up to our times. A reporter (Spencer Tracy) is determined to write the story of a beloved national hero, a task complicated by the hero’s secretive widow (Katharine Hepburn). As he delves deeper, he uncovers unsettling facts about the deceased man’s life, revealing a darker truth beneath his heroic image. The film explores the dangers of unquestioned devotion to charismatic figures.
This film is available for free on Tubi (with ads); HBO Max, Watch TCM, The Roku Channel and Sling TV (all by subscription); for $3.79 from Amazon; and $3.99 from Apple TV, YouTube, Google Play and Fandango at Home. There are two DVDs in the Westchester Library System, and three in the New York Public Library.
