The Book Club will be discussing Marie Benedict’s The Only Woman in the Room
“a powerful novel based on the incredible true story of [Hedy Lamarr,] the glamour icon and scientist whose groundbreaking invention revolutionized modern communication.” There are almost 50 copies in the Westchester Library System and multiple digital copies in the Westchester, New York, and Brooklyn library systems. The book is 272 pages. Benedict “specializes in fictionalized biographies of important, complex and fascinating women of history and bring[s] them into the light of present-day where we can finally perceive the breadth of their contributions as well as the insights they bring to modern day issues.”
