SinaiFree Film Society Discussion of "All the President's Men."

18 Feb @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The SinaiFree Film Society will discuss “All the President’s Men.”

In 1973, during the Nixon administration, the historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. coined the term “imperial presidency” to describe a U.S. presidency that exceeds constitutional limits, amassing excessive power at the expense of Congress, particularly in foreign policy and war-making.

2026 is the fiftieth anniversary of the release “All the President’s Men” – perhaps the definitive cinematic depiction of a free press and investigative journalism. The collision of an imperial presidency and a free press is an example of why the Film Society was founded: to discuss films and documentaries on Jewish topics and themes, as well as ones that address values important to us as members of the broader community.

In addition to being a beautifully crafted docudrama, “All the President’s Men” is, as described by The New York Times, a “spellbinding detective story”. Our discussion will celebrate the film, along with Presidents’ Day.

This film is available on Netflix (plans without ads); $3.99 on Spectrum (by subscription); $5.99 on Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Apple TV, Google Play and Fandango at Home. There are 16 DVDs in the Westchester Library System, and 10 in the New York Public Library.
