The SinaiFree Film Society will discuss “Annie Hall.”
Neurotic comedian Alvy Singer tries to figure out the reasons for the failure of his relationship with aspiring singer Annie Hall. In his review, Roger Ebert said that “we’ve learned only two things for certain: That enduring relationships are very likely impossible in this time and place (i.e., New York City during Woody Allen’s lifetime), and that life without the search for relationships is unthinkable.”
“Annie Hall” won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1978, beating out “Star Wars,” as well as Best Director (Allen), Best Original Screenplay (Allen and Marshall Brickman) and Best Actress in a Leading Role (Diane Keaton). Allen was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
The film is available for $1.99 on AMC Theatres on Demand; and for $3.99 on Amazon, Apple TV, Google Play, YouTube, Microsoft, redbox and DirecTV. There are 29 DVDs in the Westchester Library System and two DVDs in the New York Public Library.
