Our Blood Drive will take place in our Oneg Room.
In accordance with Sinai Free Synagogue COVID protocols, all people entering the building, including staff and donors, must be up to date with their COVID vaccines and boosted if eligible. Proof of vaccination will be checked at the door. All staff and donors must be masked except when enjoying refreshments at the canteen after their donation. Social distancing will be maintained, and hand sanitizer will be available. Anyone not fully vaccinated or refusing to wear a mask will not be allowed in the building.
You are eligible to donate if you are between the ages of 17-75. If you are 16, you can donate with written permission from a parent or guardian (I can forward you a copy of the form). If you are 76 or older, you need a letter from your physician dated within 2 weeks of the blood drive. If you have specific questions concerning your eligibility, such as medical conditions, medications you are taking, or places you have traveled, consult the New York Blood Center website: nybloodcenter.org.
It saves time if you bring your blood donor card with your ID number on it, but first-time donors are also welcome.
Reasons to Donate Blood:
More than 4.5 million patients need blood transfusions each year in the US and Canada, about one in seven patients who enter the hospital need blood, one pint of blood can save up to three lives, only 37% of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood and that less than 10% do.
